Our Mission

The Plano Economic Development Corporation is a public-private partnership dedicated to marketing and promoting the City’s business opportunities in order to attract new business, facilitate the expansion of existing businesses, and broaden and diversify the tax base.

How we are funded

PEDCo is supported by both the private and public sectors through varying commitment levels. A contribution at the Executive Member level entitles each contributing organization to a seat on the board and participation in making the decisions which guide our activities.

How we are organized

Our not-for-profit foundation consists of an Executive Director who operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors. The Board consists of dedicated leaders willing to share their expertise to ensure the vitality of the local economic climate.

The Things That We Do:

Community Development
Preserve open space, address traffic and parking issues, support projects dedicated to beautification and improvements to commercial and recreational areas that affect the quality of life in Plano.

Tourism
Support, enhance and promote tourism for its benefit as an economic stimulus for the area.

Business Recruitment
Market Plano 's opportunities, proactively seek new and expanding business interests and respond to prospects actively researching the local area.

Business Retention/Expansion
Community wide business retention survey and utilization of business assistance programs to ensure that Plano's existing employers have what they need to grow and prosper.

Workforce Readiness
Identification of employer workforce needs, skill sets and customized training and coordination of workforce education programs to support new and expanding businesses.

Infrastructure Projects
Provide support for special projects including transportation (rail and road), utilities and encourage city infrastructure planning to address readiness of potential commercial development areas.

Government Affairs
Coordination of political activity in support of economic development and infrastructure initiatives.

Available Properties
Maintain database of available properties for lease and sale and promote use; continually assess available land for potential commercial development.

Incentives
Assess and develop a fair and equitable program of Incentives that balance the needs of the community with the competitive nature of business attraction. Research, recommend and pursue local state and federal programs for Tax abatements, Enterprise Zones, TIF districts and grant opportunities and analyze development benefits for the community.

Local Liaison
We maintain professional relationships with all levels of government and provide assistance with zoning, permitting or other special needs.

Research
Maintain comprehensive business data, market analysis, labor statistics, current information on taxation, utility costs, property values, demographics, wages and workforce data.
